Lotan Zack  // Sunflowers of hope

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Millions of people have fled Ukraine; others have stayed to fight. 

In that year, thousands of innocent Ukrainian people have been killed, and millions forced from their homes, leaving everything behind.

My goal in the collection I designed is to raise awareness to the war, to the refugees, to the people of Ukraine. To support the people of Ukraine and protest against the war. 

In my collection, I want to be the voice of the refugees, especially the women, who left everything behind. To show the journey that they made. By using clothes, I want to protest the indifference of the world. 

I designed and created Winter Women's Clothing collection that made of quilt coats made of printed fabrics, knitwear, and cotton.  

My inspiration was based on powerful refugees’ stories, their traditional clothing, military uniform, protest around the world and Sunflowers, Ukraine's national flower. Whilst researching I discovered taken on a new meaning - Ukrainian resistance symbol. 

I created my protest army uniform.
